Turn it down!

We use sound in so many ways and oftentimes we don't even realize it. Sound does make a difference.
Have you ever gotten into your car and cranked up the music so loud? You're driving and jamming along on your way to a session for some self-care.
You get to the session and your mind keeps racing, thinking about all the things you have to do when you leave.
Finally, when the session is about 75% over, you relax and find a peaceful state. Back to the parasympathetic state. FINALLY. This is your nervous system exhaling.
Then you get back in your car, turn it on and the music comes blasting in your face.
You think to yourself, "Was I really listening to it that loud? That's so freakin' loud! Turn it down!"
Can you relate?
What just happened?
On the way to your session, the chatter in your head was so loud it took incredibly loud music to match it and seemingly shut it up (which, by the way, it did not shut up. You just found something that was louder).
THEN, when you finally arrived at the resting state of your nervous system, all thanks to your practitioner and the work you did together, the chatter eased up.
The music to match this new state was softer and gentler.
This is a great indicator of the state of you and your nervous system.
That loud chatter was your sympathetic nervous system kicking into high gear which it does when you keep going, going, going, and doing, doing, doing without pause.
Do you really care about your nervous system? Well, it would be a good idea.
Why bother spending the money on self-care if you don't really care about your-SELF?
Imagine if you went to your self-care sessions AND took better care of yourself in between the sessions?
You might save your hearing.....and that's just a start. :)
